About This Course
Heat pumps are the most efficient method to not only heat and cool spaces, but to provide domestic water heating in both multifamily and commercial applications. This two-part introductory course explores the composition, operation, and application of heat pumps in building settings. Specifically, this course examines the evolution and versatility of heat pump technology in comfort heating/cooling and hot water applications, successful implementation examples, and essential lessons learned. Learners will explore the value of heat pumps, including decarbonization, energy efficiency, and grid stability opportunities.

Bio
Noah Gabriel is a Project Manager at New Buildings Institute working within the Building Innovation team. Noah manages multiple cutting-edge heat pump water (HPWH) pilots and leads the Advanced Water Heating Initiative's load shifting-focused working group. Noah also led the first-ever field study on 120V HPWH load shifting efficacy. Before joining NBI, Noah worked at Atlas Public Policy where he wrote about green building technology and helped grow the Buildings Hub platform. Noah double majored in Economics and History at Oberlin College.
