In this simulation-based on demand class, you'll discover how to replace existing systems, and commission new systems, with cold climate heat pumps. Depending on your location, cold climate heat pumps might be needed because they can operate at lower outdoor ambient temperatures. This class includes video demonstrations where we will walk you through the basics and explain what to do. Then you'll have the opportunity to test your skills using an interactive simulation. This course is included in the 12 part U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Skilled series to prepare you for meaningful and in-demand jobs in building energy efficiency. Tim has 32 years in the HVAC Industry and has been President of Smith & Associates, providing HVACR technical training, certification testing and residential energy audits from 1993 to the present. He has been an Assistant Professor of Heating Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technical Services at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York from August, 1990 to the present. He earned an Assoc. of Occupational Studies in Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technical Services at Hudson Valley Community College in 1986; a BS in Technical Education at the State University of New York at Oswego, 1996; and is a BPI Certified Building Analyst, Heating Professional and AC/Heat Pump Professional.
